Switching Landlines

We have two phone lines connected to our property - one to the main house which is active and one to an annexe which is deactivated. We need to move into the annexe whilst the main house is renovated and simply wanted to switch our account to the second line. I have talked to two different people at BT, one of whom reported this was fine on our existing contract and the other who said we we need to start a new contract if we switch in this way. We don't want to start a new contract but it doesn't seem to be possible to speak to anyone who actually knows the correct answer (on both calls there were lengthy delays to consult 'managers' but you cannot speak to them directly).

Rather longwinded but my question is does anybody know if we would definitely need to re-contract in this situation?

Thanks

Re: Switching Landlines

@MikeC4

Welcome to this user forum for BT Retail phone and broadband customers.

All you need to do is to request an "Internal Shift" to swap over the lines where they come in. There would be a charge for this.

If you cannot get Customer Services to help, then one of the forum moderators may be able to assist.

Re: Switching Landlines

Hi @MikeC4 welcome to the community and thanks for posting, doing a home move of the line to the annex would start a new 12 months contract so an internal shift would be the best solution. Are you employing an electrician as part of the renovation work as they may be able to do this for you?

Thanks

Neil
