I think @licquorice has got the wrong end of the stick! You corrected one of his blue line reply to me and he still thinks it isn't optional!

I was advising the Community that it should be optional, not demanding it! And it doesn't matter now because I've already learnt it's optional, like smart meters.

You are supposed to take my problems on board. 

I don't need to post a broadband checker now thank you as I now know the project is optional. @Bob1001 confirmed this and corrected @licquorice  post who had already told me it wasn't optional. @wkirkman also mentioned someone who has an aluminium line with the same problem, which backs up my problem too.

The thread ended ages ago, when @Bob1001  answered my questions and corrected @licquorice.

I was merely answering the threads after that but I don't need to now.

When in 2025 will the switch off of all telephone lines in the United Kingdom be then? Please could you tell me what date in 2025 phone lines will be switched off?

When will the routers be posted out to all BT customers? Will we get the routers in time for the switch off?

Will the phone line be silent until I plug in the router?

Will there be a big 'switch off' in 2025. What about emergency 999 calls being made in the transition between switching off the telephone lines nationally and the time it takes to deliver the routers. Or will everyone's phone lines be switched off area by area?

Will a member of BT deliver the routers by hand to one's home and set it up like 'digital television'. Will their be a cost for people to set up these routers?

How much taxpayers money is going to be spent posting our routers to every telephone line in the United Kingdom?

I know there's a lot of questions there.

I don't know what you are talking about! I've never paid anyone to test my phone line.  Please read posts properly before  coming to your own conclusions. It has been tested by Openreach many times - it gets very very low, almost non-existent VDSL which is needed for internet. Not adequate to make a call over the internet with.

 Many phone calls will be missed when I switch off my router. Keeping appliances switched on permently isn't recommended and should always be switched off at night - electric sockets can overheat. Many phone calls will be missed. 

@Bob1001  told me it was optional. I believe he may be right. No one should be forced into anything. 

If this project goes ahead and my phone line really is switched off, and I have to have a router switched on day and night to make nothing but a phone call then I will be leaving BT after 40 years. I think many people will do the same.

Keeping routers switched on all day costs money for electric. Will BT be paying my electric bills? I doubt it.

I've explained to the Community that my phone line isn't capable of an adequate VoiP call, @wkirkman also know's someone with the same problem with their aluminum line. Let's hear their phone line problem for a change - not just mine!

There will be lots more people with the same problem. I'm only the first.

"Just a quick note on your phone line. I do know someone who has an aluminium phone line and he has heck of an issue with it, so I know that it may not be terribly great"

 

Enough said then!  BT shouldn't be switching off phone lines then if that is the case.

you have misread @Bob1001 post  what he said was the switch to DV was not optional and it will happen  what is optional is whether you maintain your existing landline on DV or you decide not to continue with your landline and start using your mobile phone

this thread is just going on and on and getting nowhere
