Possibly the advisor is getting confused and assuming its the same as with PSTN, where you could be on a different number range.
Only a moderator can look into this.
Agree if it's the same area code, it shouldn't change.
Its normal for a new line to be given number to start with, otherwise the order cannot progress, as there would be two lines with the same number, which cannot happen.
Once the new line is working, it should be possible to re-number it back to your original number.

Sorry for the confusion around keeping your phone number when moving home. There should be no reason why you can't keep your original number. What date does your services move over? Your best bet would be to contact us after the services move over about changing to the number you've been using.
