Hi,
This evening I am unable to call out on BT landline, but can accept calls.
I have tried taking batteries out of handset. Switching base off & on. And also run the text trouble-shooter, & the diagnostics from my online account, but no issues found?
The phone seems to be making the right sounds when dialling numbers & pressing the green button, but seems to go silent upon completion of dialling last digit?
Any thoughts?
Hi @Nimbus7
Welcome and thanks for your post!
I am sorry for the problems you're having making calls. Your first port of call would be to try a different handset to rule out of the issue being your phone. Have you tried an alternative handset?
Thanks,
Robbie
Hi @RobbieMac
Thank you for the reply.
Yes, I checked using another phone & the problem persist.
I used the text service to run some tests & received a call back from BT, who are going to send an engineer on Friday to test the wiring in my home, & then escalate it further to Openreach if it cannot be resolved.
I will try & report back when I find out what the issue is.
Thanks again.
Its more likely to be a fault in the exchange, probably the line card not decoding the tones, assuming you are not on BT Digital voice, so its going to need a visit to the exchange.
Usually its still possible to make calls if you still have a phone which uses pulse dialling, and not tones, as the line cards still work under those conditions.
I run the text tests twice, & the online trouble-shooter tests twice & no issues could be found with the landline, & the lady on the phone at BT run tests too which were showing everything fine.
I was asked to try a couple of times during our conversation to try & make a call on the landline & the problem was still there.
I will keep in mind what you have said, & will mention it if the engineer tomorrow cant find any issues inside the property.
Many thanks,
👍
