I've made a number of calls recently from my BT landline (not Digital Voice) to another landline. These calls were unanswered, yet they're listed under 'Your usage' in my online account. I don't recall ever seeing this before, has something changed?
I only ask out of curiosity, since my calls are free it doesn't really matter.
Probably so people have a record of calls they made, and whether they were answered.
That never used to be the case , as obviously unanswered calls have no duration, and therefore no charge , and therefore no reason to be listed , if sufficiently interested, call an 0800 number ( doesn’t matter which as the idea is not to get an answer ) hang up immediately and then check if that is recorded…AFAIK, one of the reasons not to record ‘non metered’ calls , was ( for example ) an abused spouse could call helplines without there being any ‘evidence’ on the phone bill ……if this policy has changed it seems a poor decision .
Presumably the calls in question were not to business that put you in a queue , so if you hang up before speaking to anyone , the call was answered, if they were just regular residential type calls it is odd that they show up as calls made
Hmmm, the calls were to a business (a local pharmacy), but the phone simply rang as normal with no obvious sign that you were put in a queue. I made one 6 minute seemingly unanswered call from my PAYG mobile to the same number, and for that I've been charged £2. So I guess they must silently answer the calls, which seems rather underhand.
Thanks for this. I will keep an eye out for my landline bills (I only use the phone in the week and I only have free calls at weekends so probably the worst package for me in history). Last bill looks like only charged for calls made
