Whitelist Call Management

Posting on behalf of an elderly relative. She is 99 and still lives on her own. Service is BT broadband for monitoring cameras, and Digital Voice.

She is receiving increasing numbers of scam calls. She has been told to hang up if in doubt, and as a precaution we have tried to make sure she doesn't have access to sensitive information, but it may only be a question of time...

What we really need is a whitelist service, where known "good numbers" are allowed through, and the rest go to wherever. We looked at BT Call Protect, but that requires the user to produce a blocklist, which is a pointless reactive service for this use case. Call Minder is also not workable.

Do BT offer anything else? I think the CPR V10000 Call Blocker may be the way to go.

Re: Whitelist Call Management

Call protect uses blacklisting and is pointless. You need a call blocking phone such as the BT4600 to whitelist.

Re: Whitelist Call Management

It might be more appropriate to use a separate screening box, rather than have her master a new phone & how to operate it. Have a look at the Truecall Secure box as it can be managed remotely & can be set to refer unknown callers to another trusted number. So if someone needs to contact her legitimately before their number is added, or if they're calling from a withheld number, they can call you instead of just being dumped to voicemail.

Down side is it's more expensive & requires a subscription.
