Re: billing

@nodrog52

Welcome to this user forum for BT Retail phone and broadband customers.

Yes, because Line Rental is included in the cost of all broadband packages.

You still have to pay for the rental of the fibre or copper connection, whether you want a phone service or not.

Re: billing

@nodrog52

there are numerous posts on the forum about this if you try search

the quick answer is you  pay line rental which is included in package costs and your choice whether you want ability to make calls on home phone or not.  you need a line whether that is copper or fibre otherwise no broadband.

if you want ability to make receive calls then you need broadband with phone and an add-on call package - PAYG, 700 minutes or unlimited

Re: billing

@nodrog52 Do you mean line rental charges or landline charges? People conflate the 2 things, they are entirely different.

Line rental (which no longer exists as a separate entity but is part of every broadband package) is to pay for the physical line regardless of what service it is delivering.

Landline charges are for a telephony service regardless of how that is delivered, via the analogue PSTN or via VoIP. You can have broadband without a landline capability if you wish, the saving is £2-£5/m.

Call charges are the same for Digital Voice (VoIP) or analogue phone service.
