digital voice email and not even on FTTP here yet

Go to solution

bt told me this is just a pre email

Absolutely, you do not need to do anything now, So, this is a general
update that has been sent to you. Currently, as we can see in the account, that
there is no order open for the Digital voice migration and you still have PSTN
landline services in the account. We assure you that at the time of migration,
we will send you all the updates and will make all the arrangements for you
regarding this.

so bt just sent a mass email out if you cant get FTTP in your area just ignore it

you don't have to be on FTTP to be moved to digital voice nor do you need an openreach visit to be moved to digital voice.  all you do need is BT SH2 with green phone socket on back

You don't have to have FTTP to be converted to DV. I'm on FTTC and have had DV for a couple of years now.

Certainly this, like so many other BT e-mails, could have been better written. The second and third sentences are so poorly phrased that I wonder if it is a genuine BT e-mail and not the start of a phishing exploit.

Digital Voice and FTTP are totally separate things. The whole country will be moved to Digital Voice long before FTTP is rolled out.

The change to Digital Voice is a remote operation, no engineer visit is required.

Are you saying that the email you received (  that imparts no real information, it basically says you are not currently in scope for migration to DV , but assures you , that you will be informed when you are in scope for DV  ) was not a reply to some enquiry you made but was completely unsolicited and unprompted by you contacting BT first ?  …TBH that  seems pretty unlikely, given the wording and context of the email , it reads as a response to something you contacted BT about , so  what is it that makes you think this email was sent out to many others not just you , it doesn’t read as a mass marketing email sent out to thousands of email addresses.

As stated , FTTP is not a pre-requisite for Digital Voice , so even in the unlikely event this email is some sort if mass marketing email (that you have selectively edited rather than posting the entire thing )  , sending it to BT customers that don’t have FTTP is perfectly understandable as FTTP isn’t needed for DV ,

I , like others have already stated, don’t have FTTP , it’s not available in my neighbourhood but I do have Digital Voice telephony , because it’s perfectly normal to have DV but not FTTP

I’m struggling to see the issue , and why you have posted in the forum …..if this admittedly poorly written and apparently unnecessary email was sent to you completely unsolicited ( and sent to many others ) all it says you are not currently scheduled for DV but when you are you will be advised in advance …..it doesn’t mention an appointment, why would this motivate you to post here ?

There are some BT customers , that are being offered conversion to FTTP at the same time as migration to Digital Voice , but that’s obviously not the  case with you , because you say FTTP isn’t available in your area .

Given the poor grammar etc , perhaps you can post the entire email ( obviously obscure your name account info etc ) as the first line you posted ( supposedly from this email ) ‘Absolutely, you do not need to do anything now,’  seems more like a personal reply , and  not something that would  be sent out unsolicited, to be potentially received by thousands of BT customers still waiting  be moved to DV , regardless of still being on FTTC or even ADSL …if it is a mass market email , it’s pretty poor grammatically , and it would be surprising that it was allowed to be sent out  ( you would imagine BT or their suppliers if this is contracted out , would employed people to vet these things, presumably they would be mortified if something so poorly written were  allowed to be sent to thousands of people …obviously individual responses don’t need the same scrutiny .
