Hi @daviehop
Thanks for coming back to the community.
I've sent you a private message now to get some details and help you with the landline not working.
Leanne.
do you have a corded phone you can try to check for dial tone?
did you check the batteries in your cordless phone don't need replaced?
The original post states ‘My normal landline cordless phone’ , hence asking the question about your telephone ,
Do you have broadband ?, if you do is it still working ?
The point about asking about the type of phone , batteries etc is it may be your own telephone instrument that faulty , and if it is and you report the line as the problem, clearly it adds delay waiting for a technician to come along and demonstrate the line working with a different handset and possibly the prospect of being charged for an unnecessary (from Openreach point of view) visit .
If possible it’s worthwhile either trying a different phone in your socket , or trying your phone at another address with a known working landline service to eliminate your phone as the problem .
Broadband working ok, no access to another phone, the moderator Leanne has sent all my details to BT,
Many thanks. David
As stated , this is more to advise you that if it’s your own phone that’s faulty , you effectively are wasting time waiting for a tech to arrive just to show you your service working with a different phone connected , in that situation you obviously need to replace the phone anyway
…that’s not to say it is your phone , but it’s clearly a possibility, that’s assuming you haven’t been moved to DV and your phone should be plugged into the router not the phone socket on the wall .
