thanks, that makes sense. my advanced settings page has the toggle for fttc/fttp visible but set to off (fttc). i guess that means that if and when Norfolk ever gets full fibre the firmware upgarde is installed, albeit i won't need to consider that when i get DV .

And BT has added to the confusion by claiming erroneously that "DV will allow them to do away with the old copper network"
