Advice re installation

Hi I live in an area that has no BT ducts I only know this as Trooli called and said they were fitting super fast broadband as I believed we did t have broadband in our area I said yes I'd like it However they found no BT ducts and said they'd need to dig up the path outside our council home then into the garden However they then said they would pay £600 but we'd have to pay £700 Of course I refused and I went to ombudsman but lost my appeal My question is if there is a BT box near our property would BT charge to install their super fast broadband to us plus how do I find out if it's available postcode is SO40 7HU

There is no Openreach FTTP in that postcode area , generally speaking once Openreach upgrade an area to FTTP , the ISP’s that offer service over Openreach ( like BT ) don’t charge for providing FTTP unless there is excess construction required, in the majority of cases this isn’t required, but it’s irrelevant as that area doesn’t yet have FTTP from Openreach.

When I was a CST if a Subs existing line was Direct in Ground Openreach would do the dig at cost to themselves as it was classed as an Upgrade.

The only time excess construction charges came into it were if say the existing line was O/H but the Sub was asking it be moved UG.

As for Alt Nets, I’ve heard a lot are now avoiding areas that are DIG and or asking the Sub to either cough up the whole cost, or part of the dig and duct work. I’m guessing this is because most didn’t realise just how expensive and time consuming Civils Work is and it’s driven some to amass Billions of pounds of Debt. One of the big Alt Nets Hyperoptic are one of them.

Oh thank you so I have to continue with the three mobile router than. I was annoyed at Trooli as they said I could have superfast broadband but then found when they came to install it there were no ducts They said they went on BT maps but often found them to be wrong Now I know what they meant in their reply to ombudsman "We would love her to be our customer but if she doesn't want to pay we wish her luck with another provider" 

so much for Boris saying every one should have fast Broadband lol

If you have an existing copper phone line to your house you should be able to get at least ADSL broadband service, and probably the faster VDSL (fibre to the cabinet) broadband.
Either of those would probably be better than your mobile router.

Probably a little pedantic but you already have Superfast access , FTTC in your area is predicted at around 40-60Mb that already satisfies the ‘Superfast’ criteria,  FTTP offers the option of Ultrafast speeds …if you choice is to use mobile broadband that’s obviously up-to you , but 40-60Mb is more than adequate for most  residential users .
