Could I make good use of Halo?
Currently I have BT Broadband by landline which at peak gives 1.3 Mb/s (usually about 850Kb/s, though). It is connected via a BT modem to a mostly-unattended laptop for lengthy downloads, such as BBC programmes.
AND
EE Home Broadband averaging about 7 to 10 Mb/s. It has an aerial on the outside of the house that feeds into a modem that provides wired Ethernet as well as Wi-Fi around the house.
(There's real prospect of fibre where I live.)
The landline has had almost daily dropouts recently, so my question is: could my EE Home Broadband be used instead of the EE mobile data connection provided by Halo?
Halo is just a benefits package, not a technology. You are perhaps thinking of Halo 3+ which is a fall back system for when the broadband fails and utilises EE mobile data.
Not sure of the point of your question, if your EE broadband is supplied via a landline why have 2 broadband packages and if it is supplied via EE mobile I don't understand why you need to link the BT hub into it rather than use the supplied device. The answer is that it isn't possible in any case.
The Halo keep connected promise means if you have a total loss of service, when you report it the 4G mifi device is activated, once the fault is fixed it's deactivated, so you only have use for a short time until the fault is resolved.
It seems my question wasn't as clear as I thought it was.
Thank you for your reply. You're right about it being to do with the Halo 3+ fall-back system.
My EE Home Broadband is not supplied over a landline. Also, its modem and LAN are separate from the BT landline Broadband LAN. By having this arrangement I actually save money - odd as it may seem. I could, if I chose to, download films using EE instead of BT much more quickly, but then I would have to pay for more data. The BT Broadband, however, comes as a package along with the phone calls, and is unlimited.
So the point of my question is could I save money on Halo 3+ fall-back by using the EE Broadband that I already have?
You say it can't be done, and I think you're right! Thanks.

Thank you for your reply. However, this much I already knew.
As I said, no it can't be done and there would be no point even if it could.
I don't understand what you would be expecting to achieve.
