That was when the line came back up, there will be an associated DSL Link Down when it dropped.
How many pairs of events are there and how often?
if you were having multiple drops in connection then I am surprised that your down noise margin is still at 3.2db and not in excess of 6db
Good point
Every time it says DSL link down it means it’s disconnected and reset. The SH2 does a routine reset every 14 days anyway but if it’s more frequent than that, (and you’re not the one resetting it), then it indicates a problem even if the light does appear to stay blue. Could be the line, could be the hub itself.
Edit: Ah, looking at the wrong post. Late to the party as usual...story of my life.
If the noise margin was only temporarily 3 when he looked at it, it could indicate an unstable line. Depends what it says most of the time.
the 14 day reset of the BT hub does not affect everyone so it is not a routine reset. as a previous sufferer of the 14 day reset which just stopped without any intervention from me and never recurred
Yes, it's a strange bit of kit alright. I have two. One does a CWMP session once a day. The other does a CWMP session once an hour. No obvious explanation.
I really don't know why I am asking this but has anybody thought about asking basic diagnostic questions such as when does this happen?
Is it random or at certain times?
What are you doing/ using when this happens?
Is it when you are on your laptop or other devices?
Is it happening when using a wireless connection or when using a wired connection?
Have you tried disconnecting all devices and only connecting one at a time in order to eliminate each of the devices?
Have you introduced any ne w electrical equipment to your property?
Is your boiler on a timer?
Is your Smarthub on an electrical extension or sharing an electrical wall socket? etc etc etc.
I asked the previous forum mods a few years ago and they investigated but could not find cause or solution and blamed the DLM
from13th April to 15th June there seems to have been 17 DSL Link Down: duration incidents
there was an
| WAN connection WAN2_INTERNET_PTM disconnected.[ERROR_NO_CARRIER] |
message with each link down message but what does it mean?
