BT tv and broadband cables

I have booked an engineer to install a new BT internet and tv service.

The supply to our property is overhead from a pole and is the old copper wire as far as I know. There are no plans for now for this to be upgraded.

when the engineer comes he will need to connect to this overhead supply and take it down the wall and into the house. I don’t want a cable clipped to the front of the house or surface mounted on the inside.

I plan to run a cable from the loft through some existing boxing. This will be time consuming so the engineer will not want to do this just to satisfy my fussiness.

my question is what cable should I run in? And do I need 2 different cables to future proof the installation.

Thanks in advance

Re: BT tv and broadband cables

if you have an existing phone connection from the pole how does that enter your home?

are you sure you are not getting a fibre connection

can you enter your address and post results including notes    remembering to delete address

@Herbie2

"The supply to our property is overhead from a pole and is the old copper wire as far as I know."

Do you mean that this line already exists, and if so, is it a currently working telephone line, with a different supplier, and you are moving to BT?

Is this line currently connected to a master phone socket?

***EDIT - I was still typing when imjolly posted!

Hi imjolly

I tried to copy and paste results of the search but was unable to do it! I’m new to the whole concept of message boards.
