Re: Cable connecting New BT socket to power mains (not Ethernet)
can you just not use a power extension cable connected to the main power socket and then trials to where you can plug in the ONT power plug

Re: Cable connecting New BT socket to power mains (not Ethernet)
Presumably you mean the power cord from the ONT to a power outlet.
When the service was installed , the ONT was purposely sited near a power outlet , either a permanent wall outlet or an mains extension cord /lead , so is your intention to try and purchase a longer lead so the ONT can plug into a different power outlet other than the one it was connected to when the service was provided ?…if so , it’s the ONT power lead connector dimensions ( the part that connects to the ONT ) that are critical as there are many power units available but they are not a standard size , you may find one with a longer power lead but the plug may not fit into the ONT

Re: Cable connecting New BT socket to power mains (not Ethernet)
There are dc power extension leads available on sites like Amazon. As said, the thing to be careful of is the size of the plug. The two most common sizes are 2.1 x 5.5 mm and 2.5 x 5.5 mm. The easiest way to tell the difference between the two is to insert a metric drill bit into the dc plug, (after you’ve pulled the mains plug out, of course), and see if a 2.5mm bit fits.

A dc extension lead will be about the same diameter as the lead on the ONT.
