Re: Can't connect my Nest Wifi Point

You don't need the home hub 2 in the network as you will have 2 routers unless you put the Google router in bridge mode

Unless you require Digital Voice, there is no need for the home hub.

Re: Can't connect my Nest Wifi Point

I know but this what they are telling me. So you said I can't do option 1. Option 2 I did but it didn't do anything and option 3 I don't know how I would so that

"When your set up is ONT Box > BT Smart Hub 2 > Google Nets wifi router. You have to  reach out to your internet service provider to let them know that you need some settings to be implemented to your modem to make it work properly with your Google Wifi. This is also what my Senior Specialist Team mentioned on the result of their investigation.

Option 1: Enable bridge mode on the modem and router combination/upstream router settings.
Option 2: Disable the firewall (or put it in the lowest available setting).
Option 3: Set a Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) on the modem and router combination/upstream router. Open a port for the Google Cloud service on the modem and router combination/upstream router using port number 5222 UDP.
Note: This will help our Google Nest router to have a smooth performance compare to connecting it directly to the main modem as having VLAN Tagging is not supported."

Re: Can't connect my Nest Wifi Point

@licquorice can you help with option 3? Or is it Google taking rubbish again. I suppose the only thing is it all worked before I got fiber.

Re: Can't connect my Nest Wifi Point

Let's get back to basics. Does everything work when the BT hub is not connected? I.e just Google devices connected directly to the ONT.

Re: Can't connect my Nest Wifi Point

No the nest point  (WiFi extender) doesn't work. The nest router does work and everything can connect such as smart speaker's etc

Re: Can't connect my Nest Wifi Point

In which case the problem is entirely with Google, there is no configuration changes you can make to the ONT, it is not accessible to the user. I'm not familiar with the Google devices so can't offer any advice there I'm afraid.

Re: Can't connect my Nest Wifi Point

Ok thanks.

What I dont understand is that it worked perfectly before I moved to Fibre.  The set up was home hub - nest router I had no issues.

Have you tried factory resetting everything and starting again from scratch?

Re: Can't connect my Nest Wifi Point

I really can't see what is going on here. As far as the Google router to Wifi point is concerned, absolutely nothing has changed. The only change is that the Google router is now connecting directly to a modem rather than via another router and modem as before. I could perhaps understand it if the Google router wasn't working but not why it is just the wifi point.

I assume you are following the instructions here

If the following is my correct understanding, nothing has changed within the Google domain.

Previous setup  Line > Modem-router combined (hub) > Google router > wifi point

New setup Line > Modem > Google router > wifi point
