Cannot connect to Netgear Wifi Router

Ignore the Vlan id bit, that is taken care of by the modem.

I am not sure. Very frustrated and I think maybe I should just return it.

The XR1000 is a specialist "gaming" router. It is complicated even  by Netgear's standards. But for someone who wants to optimise their "gaming experience" it has all manner of extra controls. This is down to the use of a DumaOS as the router's operating system.

One advantage of these gaming routers is that Duma has its own section in the Netgear community where a team of dedicated and informed techies can step in an help out with problems.

And, let's face it, BT's routers seem to be designed to suit BT rather than customers.

The Stars and Stripes in that screenshot is probably for the Netgear website, not the router's GUI.

This is easily done as long as this router didn't come from the USA. There is a setting in the graphical user interface (GUI).

When it comes to wifi regions, routers sold into the USA, they usually have NAS as the modem number. These are locked to North America. That's down to legal requirements.

Don't give up. You are getting there.

This gaming router may not have been the best choice if gaming isn't the idea, but plenty of people happily use third party routers on BT.

BT's own devices are competent but hardly world beating. They don't support many of the services that Netgear and others offer, albeit sometimes at a price. In my case, the use of Anywhere Access to manage routers while nowhere near the home network beats anything BT offers.

Gamers seem to enjoy these XR devices. I couldn't see the point, but I a not a gamer.
