I never had any problems with TalkTalk but thought I would change provider because of hotspots when outside my home ( I rarely can get onto a hotspot so was a waste of time anyway ) but every day I have to get BT to reset my router as it is slow and the connection keeps dropping, then its ok for a while then slows down again.
What can be done?
When you say you are dropping connection does the hub light change from blue to another colour? If not are you connecting with WiFi and it is your WiFi connection that is dropping not your internet connection? Do you have ethernet connected devices and if so do they also drop connection and suffer reduced speed
Have you tried factory reset by pressing the recessed button on back and hold 20/30 secs until hub light flashes
Hi thank you for replying.
I have reset many times and every day BT resets from thier end. I do not have anything hardwired I dont know if the lights changed as not looked as the router is out of my eye line
I can be doing something and it just keeps loading or will say you are offline When my grandchildren come over and are using thier phones/ devices we all have a hard time doing anything. Before I changed to BT there would be a PC, Smart TV, smart printer and a few devices all coping well
now when I go to bed and watch a film or series I have to turn off anything that takes wifi and still have problems with things constantly trying to load a stream
this sounds more like a wifi problem than an internet connection problem. have you tried connecting a device by ethernet to see if you get the same drop in connection?
have you tried changing the wifi channels in the hub from auto to a specific channel as there may be interference from neighbours wifi. you can use a wifi analyser app on your phone to see the networks near you and the channels in use then you can select a free of less congested channel for your wifi
Hi, thank you for trying to help.
That's a bit techie for me. I will have to get someone out, I think
if your problem is just with your wifi connection then can't see what openreach visit will do to help. have you managed to try an ethernet connection?
