Was checking on my home network, and noticed a new device with a MAC address, and the icon of a game console. The only thing I have added to my home network recently is the handset for Ditgal Voice, which I have not used to make any calls on yet. The device claims to have uploaded 1.3MB, and 40MB download.
Would the handset show up on my router?

No, the handset does not use wireless, it connects using DECT.
You can look up the MAC address and see who the vendor is.
Thanks.
What do you mean by "looking up the MAC address"
I blocked them off my network now - but would like to know how they got on

Google for the site macvendors. Then enter the MAC address into the lookup page, and it should tell you who the vendor is.
Bear in mind if you have Apple devices that have private address enabled, then the MAC address will be meaningless for that Apple device.
Just a thought, how does the handset update it's firmware? Could it have "logged on" to update?
