Hybrid connect

Have the hybrid connect, thinking this would be great as a 'seamless' back up because I work from home full time - however it seems that when its turned on, the quality of my internet (basic, fibre hasn't reached my area yet)  drops significantly. I can't do video calls and struggle with streaming standard videos. All of which makes work a nightmare.

Have spoken to the help team a number of times and been through the following;

- completed multiple reset/turn it off and on again steps.

- Told to have it connected by ethernet and also NOT to have it connected this way.

- Told to have it near the hub and also in a window.

Latest advice is 'just dont turn it on' which doesnt seem like a seamless back up to me.

Has anyone else had a similar experience and if yes, how was it resolved?

Any advice would be great please

Re: Hybrid connect

First of all it isn't seamless, it takes several minutes from loss of broadband before the hybrid kicks in.

Secondly, the broadband speed when connected to the hybrid device is obviously dependent on the quality of the EE mobile signal.

Hmm, are you saying your normal broadband is affected by connecting the hybrid device. If so, that shouldn't happen even if connected to the hub by Ethernet.

Further edit: make sure the hub is not configured as full fibre mode if the hybrid is connected to port 4 of the hub.

Re: Hybrid connect

Yeah, I get that it isn't truly seamless (think I just got caught up in the marketing hype) but I definitely didnt expect to have it turned off and only use it if the internet drops. Did some more messing around last night and if I have the broadband off and use hybrid connect only...I can stream iplayer, if I have the hybrid connect off and broadband on, iplayer works. If both are turned on at the same time, no iplayer.

Will have a look at the ports as you suggest, appreciate it the hint!

Re: Hybrid connect

It is supposed to be on continuously so that the switchover is automatic, albeit not seamless.

Mine is connected via Ethernet and has no effect on the normal broadband signal.
