Mesh Network Configuration with SH 2

Hi, I recently had fibre 900 installed in my house I installed a TP Deco 3 unit mesh network (connected by ethernet to the SH2) as i have a larger house (one level) & to give me the best speed . I now have the 2 networks (BT & the TP Mesh).

Connected to the mesh network are phones/tables/ ring doorbell/smart tv /internet streamer etc. The only devices that are still connected to the BT SH2 are Alexa devices , Hue lights and BT DV phones, which I believe only can be connected to a  BT Hub ? (something to do with DECT protocol?)

I am quite happy as everything is working fine with speeds and connections.

I am just looking for confirmation from you good people if this set up is optimum and if there is anything I could be doing different

Thx in advance

Re: Mesh Network Configuration with SH 2

If you wish to only have one network, you can simply turn off WiFi on the hub, otherwise leave things as they are

Digital Voice doesn't use WiFi, it uses DECT, therefore turning off the hub WiFi won't impact DV.

Re: Mesh Network Configuration with SH 2

Depending on which Deco you have, you may be able to specify which band devices connect to, something you can't do with the SH2. So while neither the SH2 nor Deco can have separate SSIDs for the 2.4 & 5GHz bands, that is a workaround.

Again firmware dependent on the Deco, you may also be able to set up a separate IoT network, that you can limit to 2.4GHz only. That can be handy when devices that only support 2.4GHz don't want to play nicely.
