Netgear extender 7500 / Ring doorbell

Can anyone help? Recently moved over from Virgin Media. Used a Netgear extender 7500 and an extender connected with an ethernet cable to router for ring doorbell. Both worked no problem when on virgin. Can't reconfigure netgear as it won't let me connect to the set up page either on safari or google browser and doorbell offline as it now won't recognise extender. As BT sells it's own extenders, have they set up router so it doesn't recognise or won't allow other types of extender apart from theirs??

Re: Netgear extender 7500 / Ring doorbell

Did you factory reset the Netgear before trying to connect to the hub?

yes. can connect to netgear_ext but won't let me go through the set up process without dropping out to "you are not connected to the internet"

Re: Netgear extender 7500 / Ring doorbell

So have you tried connecting Netgear to hub wireless before trying to connect the ring doorbell to netgear

Re: Netgear extender 7500 / Ring doorbell

Have you tried connecting the doorbell direct to the BT Hub? It might not need the extender.

Not sure why you apparently have two extenders serving one doorbell?

Assuming the missing numbers for the extender are the EX7500, try the full instructions here, especially locating the extender next to the Hub initially. If till no joy, try the different WiFi modes on the Hub (1,2 & 3).

Re: Netgear extender 7500 / Ring doorbell

You need to factory reset everything that was connected to the Virgin network and start again as they will have a different IP addressing range to the BT hub.

Also temporarily turn off the 5Ghz wifi on the hub until you have everything working and then re-instate.

Re: Netgear extender 7500 / Ring doorbell

Sorry will explain further. Main router in lounge. Ethernet cable runs externally from router to porch at bottom of garden where front door is and connects with a wifi extender there. Too far away to get a decent signal from router hence hardwired. Another extender in hall so signal reaches rooms at back of the house. Very old building with thick walls.

Re: Netgear extender 7500 / Ring doorbell

The EX7500 appears to have no ethernet capability, so presumably that isn't what you're trying to connect to the doorbell? So what is this other "extender"?

As @licquorice said above, just reset all extenders & the doorbell to factory default & start again.

Re: Netgear extender 7500 / Ring doorbell

It’s a simple wifi extender with lan port. All extenders have been reset with no difference. Is BT router set up not to recognise other extenders because they want you to take theirs?
