Re: No land line aocket

Are you on digital voice for your landline phone? If so, you'll need a BT Smarthub 2 which has a socket for your phone. This should have been supplied to you by BT when you set up your account with them.
If you're not yet on digital voice, your telephone service will be supplied from a standard BT/Openreach master socket. Did you house never have one of these?

Re: No land line aocket

If you are going onto part fibre or copper you would need a traditional telephone socket.  If you are going on to full fibre then you need an ONT like the box with the lights.  Normally it is picked up when you order if you don't have one and an Openreach appointment will be booked for your activation date to install it.  If you don't have this and can't find a socket then I would contact BT and have them organise for an engineer (this is likely to delay the install but as it stands it wouldn't work anyway)

Have a good hunt around though following any internal wires as they can be put in random places.

Re: No land line aocket

I'm a bit confused. You don't order a router, you order a broadband service and BT supply whatever is needed to supply that service.

When you placed your order, BTs records should have shown whether a physical line is already installed at your property or not. Presumably the records show that a line exists or an engineer would have been booked to supply one.

If you cannot find any evidence of an incoming line (copper or fibre) to your property, you need to call BT and tell them.

Re: No land line aocket

It’s not unheard of for occupants that don’t want to use an Openreach based supplier to remove anything to do with BT/OR from their property….great for them , sucks if the next occupant wants to use Openreach .
If the property is served overhead you can usually trace the cable route from the pole to where the socket is or was , if underground service it may be tricky, you could  ask a neighbour in the same type of house where their service appears .
If BT via OR records show the address had service in the past , not arranging an engineer visit and just sending out a router is commonplace, in your case you will probably have to contact BT again to say the line needs to be reinstalled if the previous occupant removed it , if the go live date has already gone , you report your service as faulty (never worked) , there is a process called early life failure that supposedly picks up installations that never worked from the start , but if all else fails report a fault , after the go live date .
