RJ45 socket

Go to solution

Can I introduce a CCTV system into the mesh system using the RJ45 socket on the rear of one of the network discs? Or do i need to use some sort of TP Link?

The issue is that the cable comes in on the wrong side of the house and I don't want to trail it all around.

cheers

@Sparks101

Welcome to this user forum for BT Retail phone and broadband customers.

Yes you can use that socket to connect Ethernet devices, but bear in mind that you are still relying on a wireless link from the disk to the home hub, so if the CCTV needs to be 100% secure, then a wired connection is the only reliable way.

Excellent, I think wifi is the initial fix and then a more permanent cable when we redecorate.
Many thanks
