I have been trying to find out why I only get 350 out of my paid for 900 mbps and now know its the smarthub 2 . tried to get a new smarthub 3 from bt but only to be told to do that i would need to be changed to EE. I dont want to change-heard a few bad reviews, even though they part of same group- they are snding me new smart hub 2 router to try, but will not send me a smarthub 3 which is wifi 6 and much better-think I will find another provider next year

By my personal experience there is literally no benefit or any noticeable difference going from 300mbps to 900mbps. 

Changing one SH2 for another is pointless as wifi 5 is restricted to what it can offer. 

If you're desperate to take full advantage of what you're paying for then buy a new EE router from EE for around £25

I am on a 500 package and the following speed test was taken when I used a Smarthub 2 so it is possible to get faster speeds but I would agree that without using a speed test I doubt you would notice any difference in everyday use between 300Mbps and 900Mbps, unless you happen to be streaming a number of 4k videos and gaming at the same time.
