I'm looking for a VDSL/ADSL Modem router that has bandwidth control and possibly QoS.
It ideally needs to handle traffic from up to 6 devices at once. Browsing, streaming, and gaming etc.
Do any of you have good recommendations that won't break the bank?
Regards,
John.
Can this also be used as a modem for the BT smarthub or would that mean my control settings won't work?
Why do you need a smarthub if you are asking about a VDSL/ADSL modem/router?
Just in case the WI-FI signal isn't as good as the smart-hub.
I'm mainly needing a QoS or form of bandwidth control as I'm on a very limited download speed of 40 mbps and upload of 5 mbps which is much more sensitive to ping spikes while gaming. I need to ensure that is priority or limit the other 6 devices so that they don't interfere.
The smart-hub has done a poor job of this as those features seem to be non-existent.
If you need to, just use the smart hub as a wireless access point connected to the Tp Link
It's pointless using the Tp Link as a modem as you won't have any bandwidth controls then
If you just use it as a wireless access point, you lose any QOS or bandwidth controls, as they are applied on the main WAN side, i.e. the VDSL connection.
The Wi-Fi should be better than the smart hub 2, as it has external aerials.
