Hello, I have had an SMS message from "BT_SMS" saying:
'Hi, BT here. Before we can install your service, we need to do some additional work. If you still want to go ahead, call us on 0330 1230 931. If we don't hear from you within 15 days, we'll cancel your order.'
I think this is a scam based on an internet search for the number.
The uncertainty is caused by the fact that I had an identical message last week which was genuine, but (a) by email and (b) with a different phone number i.e. 0330 1234 150 that did check out as a BT number. I do indeed have an order in, but I cant believe they would send another such crass message, this time by text, and with an unrecognised contact number. Except that the genuine message was identically worded and had to be similarly checked out.
So, is this a scam SMS or not? And if so is it random, or is someone hacking BT comms?
