Smart hub 3 and unifi system issues

We recently changed to a smart hub 3 hub but it will not connect / synchronise to the hardwired unifi system we have in the house.  This has meant wifi is now considerably worse than before the hub change. Any advice much appreciated

Re: Smart hub 3 and unifi system issues

Okay just to remove the confusion are you talking about BT Halo 3 or the SmartHub 3 the two are not the same, and depending on your existing (Unifi) equipment (which is?) it could make an awful lot of difference!

If it is just the SmartHub3 then you'd usually be better off with the Unifi router plugged directly into an ONT (white box on the wall) and using PPPoE credentials, that's provided you you have full-fibre.  If you don't have full fibre and are using the SmartHub to connect to an xDSL connection that come in over the phone line that's a whole other conversation - and Halo would probably (though not necessarily) be a bad choice!

Re: Smart hub 3 and unifi system issues

There's some truely great Unifi/Ubiquity equipment out there!  It's mostly targeted at prosumers/enthusiasts, and businesses.  As a result it tends to need a bit more setting up than an All-In-One consumer router.  Depending on what you have it's quite possible that you don't even need to use the Smart Hub 3!  But that comes down to detailing exactly what equipment you have.  So detailing the specific pieces of equipment would go a long way to helping you get this set up properly!
