Of course it's your business decision, but your 0.001% is so arrogant and untrue😂

Actually, many people want to do their own email and web, but they actually don't really know what is involved because to do it all; you actually need two IPv4 addresses to deal with the name servers.

I am a residential customer, just off the phone and they said that residential customers CAN get static ip addresses as I've just asked for one and they have added it to my account.

Re: Static IP address ?

i ended up getting a static IP on Plusnet which is odd cause BT at the time refused static ip address

What you will then find is that they ban the ip with spam filters that block your mail getting out, if they even open up the relevant ports.

So finally ended up getting a cheap vps with root access on fasthosts and run my own web hosting and email servers there.

Probably not what you wanted to hear.

Yeah, I know because it is a subject which I am very interested in and the update is that BT Residential customers can now get a static IP address as I was just off the phone half an hour ago.

Really? So how much are BT charging and have you received email confirmation?

Are you sure they weren't talking about static private IP addresses rather than public IP addresses.

@davematthews

I asked forum mods to check if BT had changed it's position on static IP addresses for residential customers and the answers was  'NO'.  so static IP address not available to residential customers
