I'm paying enough for my BT broadband service and don't need to pay the extra for BT Business.

As I said, "IF" it was an option to pay a little bit extra each month for a static IP address on a BT residential contract I would definitely consider it. I simply don't need all the other advantages of a BT Business Broadband account.

Firstly, there is a shortage of Ipv4 addresses, (hence IPv6), so static addresses are in short supply and generally reserved for business use.

Secondly, are you sure it’s a good idea anyway?  If the website lets you straight in because your IP address is always the same, what’s to stop a hacker spoofing the address?
