Surge protection

I have problem when I put my router into a surge protector my gaming is very unresponsive as soon as I remove the surge protector it is fixed. Why does surge protector not work well with router?

I assume you are on VDSL2/FTTC and are feeding the connection from the phone socket through the surge protector.  Cheap surge protectors work well with voice and it's 8KHz signal, they're even okayish with ADSL, but all the ones I've seen kill VDSL2 to at least some degree!

yes im on vdsl2 connection. SO sounds like their are no good surge  protectors that work well with vdsl 2 that don't kill it in anyway.
