Hope some one can help. I have tried to connect my new TPLink Av400 vdsl router to my BT broadband connection ( rj11 connection) but the DSL light will not connect it just flashes and I get no internet connection. I’ve used the bt username and password but it just will not connect.
Can you confirm your device name. There is no AV400 device as far as I can see.
Are you sure it is a VDSL modem/ router?
Are you sure you have VDSL and not full fibre (FTTP)?
Hi
sorry it is a TP link AC 1200 .
That's just a router, not a VDSL modem/ router. No idea how you are trying to connect it but it won't work if you have VDSL (FTTC ) you need either a separate modem or a different model
You haven't answered uf you have FTTC or FTTP
Hi
the description on the purchase site says that it is a wireless ADSL/VDSL Modem /Router it was this model Archer VR 400.
my connection is FTTC ( I don’t have fibre cable it’s GFast.
Right, finally got the correct model name, TP Link naming convention is definitely weird.
Unfortunately, that device is not compatible with G.Fast. In fact there are very few G.Fast products available as it is a very niche market.
I see nothing in the specs that suggests that model supports G.Fast.
Oh, that’s not so good then. The BT socket I have says GFast on it so I am only assuming that is what it is. My tech knowledge is limited. It has an RJ11 cable. I have BT Fibre 100 with Halo 3 but copper cable to house.
What's wrong with using the supplied Smart Hub2?
The only third party G.Fast modem /router is a Zyxel, can't remember the exact model.
Hi
It’s a long story but we keep getting WIFI drops all the time and loosing connections to equipment. I wanted to try a third party unit to see if it would improve that issue. It’s been ongoing for a long time and BT don’t appear to be able to fix it. I’ve had numerous new hubs.
