Hi - i was hoping to retrieve the historic DHCP connected data from my routers technnical logs but it seems to be limited to 3 or 4 days of entries.
Is there anyway to get this for a longer period? I'm not sure whether BT might back this up to their servers or if its only held locally on the homehub.
Thanks
Why on earth would BT spend a fortune to back up the logs of millions of domestic routers?
The Hub's logs just wrap when full.
If is this the sort of thing you require on a regular basis for your own setup then might be time to get your own router.
Can you imagine if BT themselves backed this up and the overhead associated with that?!
Easier to use your own DHCP server with logging, and disable the one on the home hub.
Nice little Raspberry Pi project maybe 🙂
Exactly what I use, simply to implement 😉
Yeah can even do it with the PiHole project then benefit from the shielding also, I have a Pi 4 for that although I dont run the DHCP server from it so cant verify that, I indeed do have my own router (ER-X) doing most of my leg work.
I run the DHCP element, as the BT Home Hub DHCP server is rubbish. With the Pi-Hole one, you can name devices and manually reserve IP addresses and have a hosts list.
I love the local DNS, I've added all my stuff to that, the stuff that usually lived on my PC on the hosts file now is there for everyone to utilize 🙂
