Tplink ac2100 to extend wifi

Hi my inlaws have a bt smarthub type a and the signal.is poor upstairs.

My question is is it possible ls to possible to use spare tplink ac2100 adsl vdsl router as a WiFi extender connected to the smarthub and if so how do I do it?

Yes, simply give it an IP address of 192.168.1.10, Gateway 192.168.1.254, disable DHCP  on it and connect it to the BT hub LAN port to LAN port with an Ethernet cable.

Thank you for that. I do have an ethernet cable long enough but is it easy to use it wireless or can it not be done

Routers can't be repurposed as wireless repeaters.

If I were just to replace the bt router with the tp link router what settings would I use?

The settings that have been posted ad nauseum on the forum and elsewhere.

PPPoE username bthomehub@btinternet.com password BT.

Factory reset the TP lInk first and configure it in xDSL modem/router mode.
