Unable to connect to WWW using ethernet

Go to solution

When I connect my PC to Smart Hub router via LAN cable ,PC gets allocated an IP address  and from Home Hub management page it shows that my PC is connected, however it does allow access to WWW -says  no internet connection. Tried disabling the Firewall to allow all traffic but no change ( No issues with Wireless access to WWW).

Tried powering off router for 5 mins and restart-  but no impact.

Any thoughts as to why router blocking LAN access to WWW (other than broken router)?

Presumably you have tried another Ethernet cable?

Try a factory reset of the BT Smarthub by pressing the recess button on the rear for about 30 seconds.

If the Wi-Fi works and you've tried changing the cable, have checked if the IP address on the wired connection is valid?

Open a command prompt, (type cmd in the search box).  Then type ipconfig and press enter.

The wired IP address will be different to the Wi-Fi address and should follow the format 192.168.1.x with a mask of 255.255.255.0

It is also worth checking if the gateway address is 192.168.1.254
