VPN Blocked?

Can you ping and tracert to the vpn server? Ths Windows vpn client may not be giving any clear indication of what is going wrong, but maybe you will get more information with other software hence the suggestion to try ping and tracert, it may even be wort trying a web browser just to see if it gives anything useful as a error message.

Have tried to ping, but on the BT connection and when connected via my mobile, but neither provides a ping response.

Tracert on the BT connection shows this: (I've blanked out the actual VPN address)

OK ping and tracert don't seem to produce anything useful.

Can you try telnet to the vpn server port - port number may vary according to how you connect -  I suggest trying 443, 500 and 1723 to start with. If you don't get an error message but just a blinking cursor that probably means the port is open and accessible, if you get an error message maybe it will provide a clue.

Ok I tried this via telnet. (not overly familiar with telnet but hopefully this is correct). I first did this whilst connected via my mobile, where the VPN works.

I used the command : open xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx aaaa (where aaaa is the port)

I tried ports 443, 500, 1723 and also 1701, 4500.

All came back with Could not open connection to the host, on port aaaa: Connect failed
