I have a black BT complete wifi extender disc which connects to my Roku streaming stick but the internet speed varies tremendously-from 3Mbps to 43Mbps each time I carry out a 'check connection' on Roku stick.
Signal strength is excellent at all times and blue light on disc permanently on.
I notice the disc is switching the chanells regularly i.e 1,6,11 and 36.
I have another Roku stick in another room being fed with wifi directly from the main router and internet speed constant at near incoming speed (45Mbps)
The problem seems to be connected to the black extender disc.
Any ideas how I might cure this annoying problem?
Other than noticing this when you do a speed test is there a problem when using the connection?
Thank you for your reply.
I get the occasional 'freeze' when streaming and odd internet drop out but the connection is normally good-think its my thing with streaming at the highest rate and the the annoying speed variation.
Have you any theory as to why the speed varies at each speed check from Roku?
Have you tried swapping the discs around to see if the problem goes with the disk or if its an environment problem?
Re my ongoing problems with wi fi dropouts can add some more info that might help.
I have 2 Roku sticks-one working directly from the main BT Smart Hub 2 and the other via the black extension disc in another room.
The problems are with the Roku stick receiving wi fi from the extension disc as have set-up both to be on same programme and problem only apparent on the former i.e from extension disc-the other Roku working perfectly .
Have read many comments re problems with the Smart Hub 2 and extension discs wi fi dropping out so problems seem to be quite widespread?
Many thanks for any help you can suggest.
