I have just received and commissioned my Smart Hub 2. My first generation Ring Doorbell has lost its connection of course. Sadly this bell is no longer supported by Ring. I have tried following the generic instructions for reconnection but the doorbell refuses to connect to the new router - "enable to connect to XXXXX". Is this because such devices won't connect to a dual band router and if so how do I overcome this problem?
This has been covered on numerous occasions if using search
Go to hub manager then WiFi and turn off 5ghz wifi and get ring device connected to the 2.4ghz network. Once connected then re-enable the 5ghz wifi
The problem occurs because in order to configure the doorbell, your phone needs to connect to it in ad-hoc mode, i.e directly rather than via the hub
If your phone is connecting to the hub via 5Ghz it won't be able to connect directly to the doorbell at 2.4Ghz.
In order to force your phone to use 2.4Ghz, it is necessary to temporarily turn off the 5Ghz signal from the hub.
