WiFi coverage worse with full fibre 150

I’ve just (yesterday) upgraded from BT fibre essential to EE full fibre 150.

this came about as I was upgrading/amending our mobile contracts and the lady helpfully pointed out we could “upgrade” our WiFi for pretty much the same amount per month.

despite several issues yesterday, the technician finally got the fibre cables installed and we switched over.

the problem is that despite service being improved into the living room (where the new fibre box and router are now located) the service to the master bedroom and office have dropped significantly. I checked and can see the fire stick plugged into the tv is getting 10mb and my phone, iPad and kindle are all significantly slower when used upstairs.

after calling EE to enquire, I’m told that despite this now being a worse service than I had yesterday morning, the only options I have are either to put up with it or to pay £10 more a month for boosters.

feeling a little ripped off here…does this sound right? Is there anything else I can do?

let’s not even mention how atrociously bad the EE all is to manage all this and apparently the more helpful EE home app won’t work for another 30 days.

Have you tried changing WiFi channels to a different channel. WiFi is very susceptible to interference.

You can use a WiFi analyser app on your phone to see which channel is least congested.

Sounds like something I can tinker with but….how?

Do I need to log into an admin area to do this?

@melntu

As you are now an EE customer, you need to post on the EE forum https://community.ee.co.uk/

EE are a separate company within the BT Group
