wifi in extension room

Hello

I currently have a smart hub two and three discs around the house to give full coverage. We have just added a room at the end of the garage which is quite far from the hub, so i have had an ethernet lead running into the room and connected one of the discs in there. This has provided wifi to the room no problem, but now my youngest's room upstairs can't get a strong enough signal. 

Could i buy another router and use that instead of a disc in the new room? that way youngest can have his disc back, I still get wifi in new room and with the added benefit of being able to plug devices in if needed as the router will have more ports. 

If this works, will any router work or would it be best to have another smart hub 2? would any settings need to be applied?

I will just add, our signal isn't great and at most get between 15 - 25 mbps.

Two options:  1) You could just buy a cheap wireless access point off, say, Amazon.  If it has a single ethernet port, you could add a cheap 8 port switch to plug the devices into.  2) If you already have an old router you wish to use all you need to do is turn all the functionality off* except for the wireless part.  Give it a static address in your network and then connect to one of the LAN ports.  *In particular, make sure you turn DHCP off.  Two DHCPs in the same network don't play nice, unless they are set up as a split-scope.

Yeah, you can do that with any router, doesn't have to be a BT hub. Just disable it's DHCP server, give it an address of 192.168.1.10, gateway 192.168.1.254 and connect it to the hub LAN port to LAN port.
