Bt sport won't cast

Go to solution

Hi was watching Chelsea v Dortmund... Pre match was fine... But now when I cast it's just a black screen with the white circle bottom left.

Ok playing on phone, but soon as cast I get nothing.

Is there an issue?

Thanks

Hi @banyancafe,

I am sorry that it's not casting for you.

I've checked and can't see any reported issues. Can you restart your phone and TV and try it again?

Thanks

It's common for people to leave Chromecast devices permanently switched on, but they don't like it - especially with BT Sport.
We recommend you reboot your Chromecast before every session using BT Sport for the best possible experience - especially on older models, which fail even faster.

Thanks....I always turn it off when not in use. Energy costs and all that. Was working fine 7pm to 8pm... Then crapped out. Should have thought to restart it. Thanks anyway

TBH one thing I do not like about my new Chromecast dongle is that it expects to be powered up permanently from a wall socket. My old first generation CC dongle was powered from the USB socket on my TV so was only powered when the TV was turned on.

It's not that it needs to be permanently on - just that it needs enough power to run.
Have you tried using your TV USB port? It should work, though may warn you that it won't perform as well.
If your TV has more than one port, check the current each one supplies - some TVs come with a 1A port now, which should be enough.
