I cancelled TNT sports on 7th May and got an e mail to say it will be stopped on 6th June (which is the 30 day notice period) . However I can no longer get TNT sports, so it seems to have been cancelled immediately, is this correct?

Definitely not correct. It may have been caused by your old monthly pass, which is on the same BT ID.
I've re-enabled it now, but you'll need to activate it again through MyBT. When it takes you to the discovery+ site, be sure to use the "Sign in" button in the top right corner to pair your subscription with your existing login.
