Very poor quality on extra channels (BT Sport 5-9)

Go to solution

Former extra BT Sport channels, currently numbered 5 and greater, are unwatchable in my opinion. They run with 25fps which is just poor for football as the ball and the players move fast. The resolution is not great either, looks even under 720p. BT Sport 1-4 are all fine. I have tried both a Fire stick and a native smart TV app.

I actually believe this is a regression compared to last year. I happen to support a non-British side, so I often watch Champions League games on extra channels, and to my memory the quality has never been so poor. I realise that these games may be niche for BT but on the other hand, if they are not really popular, there won't be a lot of extra server load to broadcast them in good quality.

There haven't been any changes to the quality of the channels formerly known as Extra. They're still up to 720p25 as they've always been.

Not a chance of 50fps?

didn’t watch live but when I saw the post thought I would check a couple of the Match Replays.

Well only watching the part of the replay and I would say that the Bt Sport 7 Live replay of  Juvenile v Benfica that the quality was lower than I would expect  whereas the BT Sport 4 Live replay of Rangers  game was generally fine (although if you used the timeline the stream generally only reached top quality after the shot/goal/penalty you had opted to see had  occurred).
