Re: TNT and Sky retain Premier league

I saw them talking about this on Sky Sports News, increased coverage for Sky and Amazon no longer involved.

52 games a year for TNT Sports but they no longer have first pick on games at any point in the new deal. 😳

I also saw some interesting financial analysis on X that suggests the new deal is the equivalent of £6.7 Million per game whereas the current deal equates to over £8 million per game.

Re: TNT and Sky retain Premier league

In point of fact TNT don’t have any 1st picks in the current deal either ( which rolled over for a further 3 seasons from the previous deal). They do have two exclusive complete midweek rounds in the current deal and also in the new deal. Technically this does give them some 1st picks as Sky are locked out from these matches with them all being exclusive to TNT.

TNT do have control of 2nd picks both in the current deal and the new one, however, which in some ways is better for them in being able to use their quotas ( minimum & maximum number of times that each club is permitted to be shown).

When TNT (aka BT Sport ) did have some first picks in previous rights deals, they had to play second fiddle to Sky who had control of 1st picks. Effectively this meant that Sky were able to dictate exactly when TNT were going to be able to use their allocation of 1st picks.

Someone just mentioned 58 games as well instead of 52 for TNT in the new deal.

Re: TNT and Sky retain Premier league

No. TNT have won Package A which comprises 52 matches. Package E will have 58 matches which was won by Sky. TNT will have 18 2nd picks & 14 4th picks in their package which could be considered better than 20 2nd picks & 12 5th picks in their current package. The midweek matches  (2x10) are separate and all exclusive.
