UHD on sky sports and movies

Go to solution

I've just joined & my service goes live on the 22nd I think it is 900 broadband and full works TV.

The agent said when I asked if sky sports and movies are in UHD they said yes but I can't see anything on the order confirming this so I'm not sure if it's available like it is with now TV direct but if it's not then the TV side isn't wot I thought I was getting so I'm a bit confused about it and obviously I'll have a 14 day cooling off period so I thought I'd ask in here many thanks.

Hi @RogT

The current EETV packages do not provide the SKY UHD content . NOW does offer an addon called NOW UltraBoost that is designed to provides upgrades to UHD for selected content and channels on some devices. Unfortunately currently EETV  does not offer this addon at present. It is unclear when and indeed if they will offer this.
It would be extremely helpful if BT and EE clarified what  they intend to offer and when.

If you were advised that it would be available on your package , that is inaccurate.

Many thanks for the reply it's much appreciated.

Yes I'll need to have a rethink on this but in this day and age you'd think it would be available.

Again thank you for your time and help.

If you subscribe to Sky Sports via the Now tv app, independent of BT, then you ought to be able to view content in UHD hdr. As long as your tv/stick meets the requirements then you will be ok. Also, using this method will be cheaper than choosing Sky Sports as an add-on to your package. You could still have a BT box for all TNT Sports and perhaps use the Discovery Plus app for a tv in another room if that something that interests you. I only mention this because it will work out cheaper than a mini box.

I'm currently paying £20 per month for all the Sky Sports channels. The Ultra Boost gives me UHD hdr (including Dolby Atmos) for an extra £4.50 and I've just been offered a 12 month Sky Cinema subscription for £4.99. So cheaper than what BT can offer and more flexible with better picture quality.

I was on Full Fibre 900 but took it down to 300 without noticing any difference.

My movie subscription is up this Friday.

Currently paying 9,99 for both movies and entertainment.

Like you £20  for sports and £4 for UHD.

Really considering  not renewing my movie/entertainment as even at a tenner it's just not good enough and vastly inferior to netflix and prime.

Apart from sports Sky content has really deteriorated

As for broadband anything over 150mbps is barley noticeable in the real everyday world
