Trace an old 071 London number

Hi.  I have found a number starting in 071 (London prefix) Any idea how I can trace it?  Many thanks in advance x

071 went through two changes and is now 0207 *** **** so as stated you could try ringing it , but that 0171 format was prior to 1990 so not necessarily in use or not in use by the same person or company from 35 years ago ……but  even if it were possible to check historical records BT won’t assist you , you have no right to that information, but it’s probably not possible anyway .
