What is up with these BT sales people

L4 area. Had the the displeasure of opening my door to two BT full fibre sales people today. They knocked with the made up story about checking the lines coming into my home. "Hi, we are just checking the broadband lines feeding your home. Checking to make sure you have good speed. Can we check your WiFi?"

I asked who they were, I could see exactly who they were, they told me "We are with BT" I politely told them I'm not with BT and I'm not interested in any sales but thanks for the consideration. I was asked who I was with. I told them I was previously with Virgin but currently waiting for connection with Youfibre. I was asked how much they are charging and if it's coming from the green box at the top of my road.

At this point, the scam started to take place with some BS. Apparently BT owns the green box and the virgin cable coming from it and they can tell me right now that it's old equipment and my internet is slow. "You're better off with BT full fibre." I explained I'm no longer with Virgin like I previously stated. I explained that I will be upgrading to Youfibre 800 as it's up to 7gig for £99. They told me Youfibre couldn't possibly give me that and if they check my WiFi they can prove it. I explained that I work in tech and have an extensive background in programming so I'm well aware of how it works. "Then you know how bad they are and that they can only give you 1gig because they are using our lines"

After the mere salesman decided to insult my knowledge base and try to scam me, I politely explained I wasn't interested. He then asked me to perform a WiFi speed test because it was not going to give me anywhere near the speed I'm promised. At this point I became a little annoyed. I explained that was obvious because WiFi isn't a wired connection and that's how it works. I was told "I can guarantee you won't get anywhere near 7gig if you go with Youfibre" I explained I already have them at my business and my other property and do get those speeds. I was told I was mistaken because "Every broadband provider uses our lines and we don't give those speeds" I explained Open Reach is not Netomia and and it isn't Virgin Media. The guy then said I was crazy for paying £99 for **bleep**.

So not only did he insult my years of experience that this guy just couldn't grasp, he decided to call me a lier and stupid. I explained I would never go with BT again after I had no internet from them for 31 days, promised me it would be fixed by then, didn't fix it and told me they couldn't and still tried to charge me £50 for cancelling. I explained some idiot technician told me to go online and do a speed test and couldn't grasp that I had no internet, so he got frustrated and hung up. What did the BT sales guy tell me? "It's all changed now" says the BS, insulting little idiot... Sure. Anyways I decided to knock at my neighbours who were just about to sign up to explain how bad it was. Thankfully they backed out. Apparently the two idiots told them that the WiFi was only 1g and BT offer EE 5g.  What a load of BT scam. My question is, why? Can't BT employ honest people or does it not sell to tell people how **bleep** your network and equipment is?

OK they were trying to sell a product with little knowlege of the product and how it works but what I don't understand is after telling them you were not interested why you bothered to still engage with them. You should have just closed your door!
