BT Webmail Features

I am a long term customer of BTINTERNET and now a BASIC Email subscriber.

This is my main email account, and I have MANY MANY emails in my account (>100K) (no judgements please)

Not sure why BT migrated from YAHOO but the the relatively new platform which BT chose as their webmail does not have a feature that would really help me.

Recently due to the number of emails, I have been unable to use the search function and have to do some housekeeping.

HOWEVER Yahoo has a GREAT feature, whereby if you HOVER over an email you get a MAGNIFYING GLASS icon whereby you can SEARCH FOR MESSAGES FROM THIS SENDER.

This way I can delete messages en masse.

BT's relatively new platform does not allow us to do this.

I would imagine it is a quick fix to add this feature by some techie in BT support

Only problem is HOW do I get throught to someone who can action this please?

Thankyou

Re: BT Webmail Features

BT who had been with Yahoo for 10 years, left Yahoo 13 years ago so BTMail is not exactly a relatively new platform.

There is no way to delete emails en masse. This was posted about many times in the past and BT had no intention of including that feature then and I doubt it will consider doing it now especially as BT no longer offer an email service to new customers.

You may find that you can delete up to a couple of hundred emails at a time if you hold down the shift key then tick the box to the left of the first email you want to delete in the list of emails then scroll down using the scroll bar on the right hand side or use the PgDown key and tick the last email you want to delete then release the shift key. It will select all the emails in between. You can then click delete or drag and drop them into the Trash folder.

Re: BT Webmail Features

Thanks for the reply which is much appreciated.

Whilst I understand the history you have mentioned,  I do believe that it is quite reasonable to ask BT to add such a small feature. It would be so much easier for so many people. For several years I did pay for the £7.50 per month for the Premium Service, the least they can do is listen to their customer's needs.

Re: BT Webmail Features

You can ask but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for BT to implement it.

If you only use your email account with a web browser (webmail), there is no need to to pay £7.50 per month.

The £7.50 per month is for a BT Premium email account. (which is nothing premium except the price)

BTMail is free to BT Broadband customers however if you are no longer a BT Broadband customer your email account gets "downgraded" to a free BTMail Basic account which can only be used on a web browser (web mail) and not with email clients or email apps. That is what you have said you have.

In order to use BTMail with an email client or email app you have to have a BT Premium email account which cost £7.50 per month.

See link

BT Email products | Email | BT Help

If you are a BT Broadband customer your email account will be a "standard" email account or if you are not a BT Broadband customer and you pay £7.50 for a BT Premium email account you could use an email client such as Outlook or Thunderbird with "Standard" and "Premium" BTMail email accounts.

That would mean you would not need to use webmail with its limitations such as deleting email en masse. Most email clients and email app can delete emails en masse and are far superior than webmail for accessing and managing your email account.
