BT blocking verification email from Chinese rail web site

Go to solution

I'm in China trying to book train tickets. BT is blocking the verification email sent by https://www.12306.cn/en/index.html which is part of the registration & verification procedure. This prevents me from booking tickets. Why is this happening?

Because BT system must think it is spam.

Open a free gmail account and use that.

For a moment there, contrary to my usual high standards, I was very much tempted to click on that link but I decided it wasn’t worth the risk 😂

Of course if anyone else is willing to try, let me know how it goes 👍

I’m firmly with @gg30340  use a different email address if you haven’t already done so.

Re: BT blocking verification email from Chinese rail web site

It didn't occur to me that I'd get replies from a couple of jokers. 12306.cn is the China Railway official online ticketing platform. It is colossal, with 1.5 billion potential customers. They do millions of dollars of business with Visa, Mastercard, JCB and Diners without any problems at all. I know this because I've used them here. 12306 was chosen as the name  because it was the old national customer service hotline phone number. Why is BT blocking their verification emails? They know who they are even if you two don't. Any intelligent answers?

I do know who they are and where they are based.

I gave you the answer but obviously not the one you want even if it is correct.

If you want a different answer phone BT 0330.1234.150 and ask them.

Please post back what they say because I like a good laugh!!

You have nothing useful to contribute. Please keep out of the thread.

@halfhearted

You’re asking a technical question that you should be directing to BT support staff and this isn’t the place to do that, something you’ve already been advised of. Call BT email support staff and get them to tell you why their email systems aren’t what you’d expect and how disappointed you are.

For what it’s worth, I personally don’t see the issue with using a secondary email account rather than solely relying on one provider, many of us do. Sometimes you just have to help yourself.

Good advice has been offered, if you don't like it please continue banging your head against the brick wall. Meantime I take the pragmatic view and use an alternative email address.
