Watching C5hd now and in the top right hand corner is a black and white square, also shows up on sd C5 but not during adverts. Wondering what this is for.

I've not watched live TV for years (prefer catch up) but didn't there used to be the black/white square to show when an advert was coming on ?

There was a fire alarm at the red bee play out centre the other day which led to a few channels crashing off air.
Channel 5 has been running off a back up since, which is why you can see the black and white square.
